Chia Seeds: The Simplest Fibre and Omega-3 Upgrade
🗓️24 July 2026 ⏲5min read
Two tablespoons of chia give you fibre, plant omega-3 and lasting fullness. Here is how to soak, store and use them properly.
What chia actually does
Chia seeds are close to 34% fibre by weight and are one of the richest plant sources of alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid. That combination slows digestion, softens blood sugar spikes and keeps you full between meals.
Always soak before you eat
Soak two tablespoons in 200ml of water, milk or juice for 20 minutes until a gel forms. Soaking releases the nutrients and prevents the discomfort some people feel when eating dry seeds.
Soaked chia keeps in the fridge for up to three days, so a single jar covers your week of breakfasts.
Easy ways to use them
Stir into overnight oats, blend into smoothies, spoon into yogurt, or make a simple chia lemonade with lemon, honey and cold water for hot afternoons.
